Why this trail

Complete Sudetes crossing

The first trail that truly connects the Sudetes into one coherent story. You start from Jarnołtówek in the Opawskie Mountains, and after hundreds of kilometers, you stand on the summit of the mystical Ślęża and end your journey in Sobótka. Along the way, you conquer everything – from the highest Śnieżka to the lowest Lázek. It's a complete, uninterrupted journey through the entire Sudetes, through their diversity, heights, and wilderness. One road. One challenge. One complete whole.

Three countries, one range

You wander through Poland, Czech Republic, and Germany – three cultures, three perspectives, one mountain world. The trail crosses borders not only on the map but above all in the mind. It connects landscapes, languages, and rhythms of life, creating one common space from them. The Sudetes in full dimension. Without borders.

A journey that transforms

900 kilometers and almost 30,000 meters of elevation gain. It's not just a path through the mountains, but a meeting with yourself. Every kilometer teaches perseverance, wonder, and humility towards nature. It's more than a route to traverse. It's an experience that stays with a person for a lifetime.

About the Project

From passion, experience, and... dissatisfaction.

I have traversed the Sudetes multiple times. More than once I discovered their secrets along officially marked trails. Yet none of the existing trails led me comprehensively through this incredibly diverse range.

That is why the idea of SUDETY GRAND TRAIL, a trail that will become not only the culmination of my Sudeten wanderings, but also a new challenge for all mountain lovers.

It's not just another line on the map.

SUDETY GRAND TRAIL is a conceptual trail that connects all mountain ranges of the Sudetes into one logical and demanding whole.

The route measures 900 kilometers in length and nearly 30,000 meters of elevation gain. It runs through 23 mountain ranges , leading through three countries – Poland, Czech Republic, also touching Germany.

The start of the route is in Jarnołtówek (Opawskie Mountains), and the finale – symbolic and majestic – at Ślęża, a mountain of spiritual significance, just below Wrocław.

Complete Sudetes crossing.

The goal of the trail is to conquer all the highest peaks of each range, and also – on the Polish side – all 16 Sudeten peaks belonging to the Crown of Polish Mountains.

In many cases, this means double ascents – to the actual highest point and to the crown peak, if they differ. This makes the route even more demanding and unique.

Legends of the Sudetes await.

The route will not lack iconic peaks – from the majestic Śnieżka, the highest summit of the entire range, through the mighty Śnieżnik and proudly towering over the Jeseníky Praděd, to the characteristic Wielka Sowa, the rocky labyrinth of Szczeliniec Wielki, the border Biskupia Kopa and the mystical Ślęża.

And this is just the beginning of this mountain mosaic.

For those who want to get lost to find themselves.

This project was born from love for mountains, but also from the need to create something of one's own – a path that not only leads through peaks, but connects ranges, countries, emotions, and experiences.

SUDETY GRAND TRAIL is a proposal for everyone who wants to discover the Sudetes in their fullness – not only physically but also spiritually. For mountain people – wanderers, dreamers, loners, athletes – for all who love mountains and want to face such a challenge.

This is a trail created for those who seek something more than just a marked path.

Unpredictable adventure. Thoughtful concept.

I invite you to face this challenge – on your own terms, at your own pace.
